Prof. Veldman Conducts Research at Free University of Amsterdam
Professor Meine Veldman will pass two months this fall conducting research for his dissertation at the Free University of Amsterdam. The dissertation seeks to introduce to the English-speaking world the work of Eduard Böhl, a “Reformation-Renaissance” figure of the 19th century whose written work sought to counter that of Albrecht Ritschl, particularly on justification. Böhl’s The Reformed Doctrine of Justification and other writings have been quite influential in the Dutch Reformed State Church and beyond, and his work as professor of Reformed Dogmatics and Apologetics at the University of Vienna was an important dissenting voice in a period dominated by classic liberal theology.
