Prof. Timmer Participates in Canadian Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences
Prof. D. Timmer recently traveled to Saskatoon to participate in the Canadian Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences, Canada’s largest multi-disciplinary academic meeting. In addition to hearing various presentations, he presented a paper on the use of the Priestly Blessing of Numbers 6 as a curse formula in the Dead Sea Scrolls for the Canadian Society of Biblical Studies, and a study of the Dead Sea group’s perspectives on salvation and election in the context of Second Temple Judaism for the Canadian Society for the Study of Religion. The Qumran group forms part of the background and context of the New Testament, and Prof. Timmer’s research helps him keep FAREL’s students up to date on this dynamic topic.
